I found Lucky, about a week and a half old, in our back yard in October 2006, apparently abandoned by the mother.
It was asleep cuddled up in some leaves in the middle of the yard. At first I didn't know what it was and on closer inspection I saw what I thought was a dead animal until it moved.
It easily fit in the palm of my hand - so tiny and would not have survived 24 hours if I hadn't found her.
We started to hand feed her every four hours for 8 weeks before it started to eat solid food. It was a very long 8 weeks with Chris and I continually feeding, mostly Chris though. We performed all the duties Momma would have including wiping her little butt.
The other 2 cats then sort of took over and educated her in the ways and means of living in the Hall Household - it was very cute watching the process which included teaching her to use the kitty potty.
She even learned to "squeak" like Scooter as Scooter doesn't meow like other cats.
Lucky has been one of the best furry friends we have ever had.
