Art did 50 missions in B-17s during the war. He started off as a tail gunner, then was moved forward to the waist guns.
He has written a book about his experiences, "The Shadow Casters", which has been taken from the diary he kept during that time.
He now speaks to school and civic groups about his experiences. He also volunteers at the Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field, in Washington state.
