I have been blessed to be at the right place at the right time with various wildlife. Of course, some of these animals could be considered nearly domestic because of their exposure to people but for the most part, these are wild animals in their natural habitat. The owl and deer are truly wild creatures in natural habitat. In fact, the owl drew my attention because it was on the ground. I thought that it was injured so I carefully approached it only to realize that it just killed its meal. I quickly fired off several shots and retreated slowly to let it eat in peace. The deer were part of a heard of a couple hundred spread out over several miles in the Heise area of eastern Idaho. My wife and I were out for a drive and found ourselves in the middle. The cliff swallows live on a building next to the building my office is located. The swan is the main attraction at the Sun Valley Lodge in Sunvalley, Idaho. The pond is located next to the main lobby of the Lodge. I would definitely consider the swan to be either captive or nearly domesticated. With the badger it was more like the wrong place at the wrong time . . . from the badger's point of view. It wandered into our work compound and was harassing my coworkers. We had to contact an animal control agency to capture it and remove it from the compound. These photos were taken from about 150 feet away which is still too close considering the speed and power of a badger.
