We are really delighted to have our old mate Trev join us here in Galleria Rusticana. Now living in Queensland, where he and Annie have built out in the bush with his favourite birds and fauna all around them. Trev stays close to his Sydney mates by sending spectacular pics of all aspects of nature, especially his birds. Trev has an encyclopaedic knowledge of birds (rumoured to be 670 species) and a great grasp of botany. As well he has developed superb techniques for photographing them, as you will see. He has all manner of kit including a Nikon DX2 and plenty of lenses as well as a sturdy timber tripod. No doubt he will have aquired additional gear since settling in Bundaberg.
It is extraordinary to be on a bush walk with Trev using his XXX sound system to grab bird calls. It is common place to see a hundred little people all flying around his hat and all talking at once. In addition, Trev is a crack shot using a syringe of Dettol to shoot giant cane toads in his yard. Two hops and they are gone, Trev's one man crusade against the toad menace.
Trev's laconic sense of humour makes his presentations hilarious as his mates will confirm. But his photographic skills are widely known. His trade is a top flight plumber, running a thriving business while in Sydney. Friends would often get exotic pics from Sydney work locations inaccessible to we locals, not working on site. He is an artist with the aviation shears, a kind of Gaugin of the galvanised iron, incredible how he finds those Nikon buttons with all those hard knocks, lumps and oxy burns.
Trev is a good hand to have around. Always helping with BBQs and a dab hand pouring a cold beer or some sacred syrup. An all round good bloke. We present some of his work with more to come. If you would like to check his own galleries try https://pbase.com/trevor_quested
Trev also travels to see his mates and Daughters and their grandchildren. On a recent visit he exerienced a Mates Chopper which we have added to the Gallerium.
Welcome back Trev and keep showing us how it should be done. Latest June 2011
