Galleria Aeronauticus
For some time Robaire has thought about creating a galleria on Flight. For his sins, in another life he had many opportunities to get up close and personal, particularly with military aircraft which from time to time were considered by OZ and particularly before the contract phase was at hand.This fascination with flight was regularly confirmed whenever Robaire was in Washington DC and could revisit The Smithsonian Space Centre. Several pics are already scattered around existing galleries and this one will gather copies of those up and more will be added. How, for instance, could we think of starting without including Wazza's adventure in the hot air balloons over Egypt or the helicopter rides to look down on the Bungle Bungles in the Kimberley gallery. There is plenty that may be found once our Other Mates are invited to check existing files and take others as they move around the planet. Point taken here is that we mentioned Aeronauticus to Maritimus at Lunch as you do and he deluged us with preliminary aircraft shots as a starter. All was not lost however as he included one boat. hmmm

This gallery will grow over time. If you see pics that need extra data that you can send to us, please tell us. For example there are several pics from the Smithsonian that the passage of time has found Robaire's memory to be less than perfect. 25 years is a quarter of a century and there are doubtless other more modern displays around. Just the other day, Wazza looked for the present location of the Spruce Goose and found it in Oregon..And did you know that Ford made over four hundred tri motor passenger planes. Robaire has a shot taken by his Dad in the thirties which is possibly one of these aircraft.

Maritimus Siblingus Minor ( Charles ) has contributed the aircraft recognition data to the Hendon material, and has accepted the role of DATA (a/u) to Galleria Rusticana. This appointment will bring a new found erudition to the informational data to be found in Galleria Aeronauticus in particular and Rusticana in general on matters Aircraft.

The Galleria has grown to the point where sub galleries have been included at the top of the image list. These now contain groups of related images on The Spruce Goose, The Smithsonian and recently The Qantas 90th Birthday celebrations.
