After the Police Action: Memories of the Forgotten War

The Korean War, or Forgotten War, ended in 1953 and saw over 2,000,000 Koreans killed. The Peninsula was divided (and has remained so to date), and was in shambles, a basket case. Now, having endured a rough transition away from military dictatorships, and a dubious US military presence, South Korea is a big league global economy (and all that this implies). North Korea is not. The collages here were put together with images acquired during my stay in the late 1980's. They attempt to represent my memories of tales told by older Koreans who were alive at that time, as well as those I have heard from Americans who were part of the early US presence following the Korean War.
