We lived in the Kiso Valley in the southern region of Nagano Prefecture in Japan in 1994 and 1995. Several of the famous classical Japanese novelist Shimozaki Toson's works (active at the turn of the last century) were set in this valley, including 'Family' and 'Before the Dawn'.
