...actually, more than forty. However, from 1988 I took a photography courses at ICP in New York, and so leveled up a notch or two. Also, later that year I moved to south Korea, thus beginning a life outside of New York City, and the USA entirely. With the exception of a couple of one year stints back in Manhattan in the late '90's (I rarely picked up a camera during the second stint), this has remained the lifestyle of choice. Nothing stays the same, neither places or people, or me for that matter, so I'm going to try and select images that best encapsulate my memories of those times, and that I feel represent change over this period. The images here are all taken in places that we had been living in, as those circumstances lend a different perspective than those of a traveler. I'll also include some pre-1988 images, but if they are decent at all, the result was only by chance, as I had no idea at all what I was doing. Having turned 60, this seems like the appropriate time to compile images for this gallery.
