NGC 6744

NGC 6744 is a spiral galaxy about 25 million light years away in the constellation of Pavo. To the left (north) is a dwarf companion galaxy that is interacting with the spiral arm of NGC 6744. It appears to be being stretched because of the tidal effects of the dwarf companion.

This is a 10.5 hr LRGB image (300, 120, 90, 120 mins). All subs were 15 mins (unbinned).
FOV is 43 x 32 arcmins @ 1.05 arcsec/pixel.
