Great site Gail. I learned quite a bit about my new xsi from reading the chapters and your experiences with the camera. I have the is kit lens and the 55-250 is as well. I like the look and feel and all of the features of this camera. However, I tried very, very hard to get good, sharp pictures with it. I don't think it is as good as many sites say it is. I paid a lot of money for the camera here in Canada and would not have done it if I had known it is so difficult to get consistent photos from it. However, I am stuck with it and try to use it as much as I can. The camera was a bit on the pricy side, but has a lot of great features. To anyone buying an entry level SLR Canon camera, I strongly suggest buying the XS model which is very similar, for a lot less money (200 dollars or more). It is astounding and a current reality that many point and shoot cameras have out-of-the-box photos of excellent quality, offer super zoom and shot-after-shot accuracy, many producing far better photos tahn the xsi.

Hi Gail

I followed the link on Canon EOS-forum where you gave a comment on my postings yesterday. We have the same cameras, TZ3, FZ18 and now the EOS 450D.

Your page is really useful for me, alot of great picture but even more important, your blog postings. We even seem to have the same lenses, I'll keep an eye on this blog for the future. And I must say I really enjoyed your photos.

Greetings from Eva, Norway

Hi Gail- I read your comment inth DP Forum about AIAF...
"So, to get the most accurate focus, you need to get out of the XSi's Basic Zonei. In Creative Zone the user can select from three AF modes: One Shot, AI Focus or AI Servo."

I came up with the same conclusion, and so I ask.. if a user wants to take some quick shots, using Basic Zone, images may not be best quality? Hmm, if this is true, not very useful for the less experienced user.

PS- I appreciated your blog on digicamhelp website, as I am deciding on Nikon D60 or Canon xSi.

Regards, Judy
