Fireweed (Chamerion angustifolium)

Fletcher Wildlife Garden

this used to be called Epilobium angustifolium until recent taxonomic changes. It is still labeled by the old name in many of the field guides. The blossoms attract many insects including bees and butterflies.

Pretty colour but it doesn't match the common name. Perhaps fireweed proliferates after fire?
