Vacations and holidays are over for now and it's time to get serious about the last 52lbs to go.
I finally made good on a promise that I made to myself this spring...I went jogging this morning before work.
Ok, so I'm no Jim Larkin, I only ran three eights of a mile, but that's a huge step for me.
Jim's PAD shot was the inspiration to finally get out and try it. We're both the same age,
so I figured if he could do it, there's no reason I can't.
Our local park has a walking/jogging path around it that is three eights of a mile. Amber and I
walked to the park to warm up, ran the lap, and walked home to cool down. I never thought I'd
make it without stopping, but neither of us wanted to be the first to give up. She's looking to
get in peak shape for volleyball season, so it's a win-win for both of us.
I always hated long distance running in high school.
I didn't mind sprints, but anything longer than the 440 and I'm done.
Hopefully as time goes on, if we keep at this, we'll be able to stretch this into a full mile.
I was never able to complete the mile without stopping, so this will be a major hurdle for me.
So, it may only be three eights of a mile, but I'm damn proud of it.
It's gotta be the shoes.
