Shearwater Kaftan

This pattern for a long-line top is published by Australian company Make It Perfect and sold online. It is intended to be a beach cover-up but could also be worn as a casual top. The pattern seems amateurish because the instructions are in handwriting (!), but they are clearly written, and the garment is easy to make. My effort is made in a lightweight cotton from Japan, bought online from Fabric Tales. The top is a neater fit than expected, fitting me more closely than shown on the model on the envelope, but should still be a useful summer garment. When rolled up, sleeves are held in place with a buttoned tab. Two different front openings are offered, one higher, one lower; I used the higher one, and it is quite low enough. The neck is also cut very wide, revealing a bra strap at times.
