Thanks for your informative and detailed review! It is Dec. 08 and I was considering whether or not (no bad pun on weather intended) to buy one of the Garmins. I have a Garmin Nuvii 760 for one car and am not too impressed - beautiful screen, but no trip upload capability at all etc. I ride a Kawasaki ZRX1200 in Southern California and would love to be able to upload lots of data/stats/etc. about my rides - total time, riding time (rolling time only), average speed, max speed, max/min altitude, max/min temperature, and be able to view route on 2d/3d maps on the pc. It seems like this unit can do most if not all of that, but I'm really concerned about the problems with screens, power cords etc. that you found within a year of purchase - not to mention the ridiculous ala carte pricing for low capacity, proprietary sd cards and everything else!! How do you feel today about these units - have you found anything you like better? Less proprietary??
