A sad story.

A sad 'story'.

West Hartford, CT, USA

"On February 16, 2011, Borders applied for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and began liquidating 226 of its stores in the United States. Despite an offer from the private-equity firm Najafi Companies, Borders was not able to find a buyer before its July 17 bidding deadline, and therefore began liquidating its remaining 399 retail outlets on July 22, with the last remaining stores expected to shutter their doors by the end of September. The Chapter 11 case is ultimately being converted to Chapter 7.[5]." Wikipedia

I have to admit that my wife and I, in a small way, have contributed to the demise of Borders. Virtually all the books my wife and I buy are Kindle electronic editions from She has a Kindle and I read them on my Android smartphone.

Too bad about Borders. I hope other book stores do not meet the same fate.

Too bad they are closing and so many people are losing their work. In a way this is really infuriating because Borders put so many smaller bookstores out of business, and the main reason they are closing because of gross mismanagement. They certainly leave a void. Nice shot by the way.
