#2

United States

Derived from a pine tree next to our house that is infested with ants. They are feasting on its bark and have made a nest inside. We have decided to have it removed.

I was wrong. The ants do have a nest inside, but the damage to the tree is from squirrels climbing up and down.
Best if viewed at original size. (Sept 3).

Ants will use a lot of different places to start their colonies. Clever and intriguing insects.
