Mother's day is coming and this escalator brings back loving memories of my Mom (RIP). When I was a boy she would take me (and sometimes us - I had 3 brothers) on the bus "Uptown" to the Hartford department stores. In those days we had G Fox & Co., Sage-Allen, Wise, Smith and Company and Brown Thompson and Co.. They are all gone now. Whenever we went into a store we had to use an elevator or the stairs, as my Mom was afraid of escalators.
