I love photography because photos only tell the truth we want them to. It is a world contrived, a world where perfection can exist, if only for one hundredth of a second. This is also why I hate it, because it is a lie. It shows us what was or what might have been, but not what is. This is even more true now with digital photography where we endlessly shape our photos to be what we want and not what is. I want to change the way I shoot. I want it to mean something only in the moment and I want it to be real and uncontrived, unedited, unaltered, unmanipulated just as they were shot, uncroped and unenhanced. I want my photography to reflect my life and I want my life to be real and uncontrived, at any cost.
