I agree with Jim: your monochrome are superb, Ann!...
Beautiful portrait... and I love the way the light draw shadows on the wall and create abstaction.

Absolutely gorgeous -- light, composition and your beautiful boy.

The exposure in this pic is pretty good. I think you are getting the hand of this metering :) That said, I like the laughing pic more - I dunno.. it's more of a candid and great fun pic.

Lovely image, Ann! I've been trying to figure out lighting lately too and have been using my spot meter option a lot. I've also been using the regular meter and then taking 3 or 4 of the same pictures at different exposures...one will usually turn out. For me it's still a guessing game :) I wouldn't have any idea where to start with this image though because of all the differently lit areas.

That being said, this portrait came out really well. I wouldn't have guessed that it was fixed in PS. Your B&W photos are always beautiful and inspiring.

Thanks again,Jim. The "serious" picture was taken about 2 secs after the "laughing" one. He was laughing bec I was desperate and bribing him to be my model for PaD again! Michael sitting?? He can't sit still for more than 2 secs...naughty or not! Funny...I like the unplanned pic (the laughing one) more!

I love the lighting on this ... I think your monochrome images are superb (take another bow).

I hope he is not in the corner because he was naughty!
