Granddaughter Breanne with Our First Great-grandchild, Landon.
Our granddaughter and her family paid us a visit on Thursday. They will be moving to Montana tomorrow. Anyway, here she is with our first great-grandchild, Landon. We can always hope they move back sometime.

A Walk in The Woods
I took a walk in the woods at Clearwater Park. It is such a pretty place!

Frosty Rails
On a chilly morning these rails took on a more attractive look, to me anyway. It seems that so many things can be made prettier by means of the right presentation. :)
Made my semi-annual trip ot Portland today, to have my eye checked at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU), and things look good. I got the go ahead to have cataract and cornea surgery. So, hopefully, I will be able to see better soon.

When Shadows Fall!
Whenever we go to Portland for my eye appointment at Casey Eye Institute, my daughter is our designated driver for the return trip. I sit in the back seat bored, with dilated eyes. Sometimes I nap and other times I have my camera out watching for a likely photo op. Wearing dark glasses doesn't help any, and neither does the fact that we are traveling at 70 MPH. But I keep trying. I was pleased with this image, shot as the sun was having its last hurrah of the day. It's the time of day when shadows fall.
(I maanged to frame the shot for a nice composition. No cropping done.)

Dark Eyes
I believe this is a Dark-Eyed Junco, anyway the features and coloration are just like the one in my "Birds of Oregon" book. :) I feel fortunate to even see the small birds right now, let along get a good shot of one. I was pleased to see this pretty little thing!

Red-tailed Hawk
The hawk, in Delta Ponds, was high in a tree quite far from where I stood. The image was cropped to make it appear larger in the picture frame. I thought the image turned out well, especially considering the smaller sensor of the V2, a little camera I love! I have a hard time finding hawks to photograph. So I was happy to see this one. The morning light gives it a nice warm tone.

Stay At Home Mom
I had to run to the Post Office late yesterday to get my tax return in the mail. I thought I would take a detour (a bit out of the way, LOL) to check on the bald eagle's nest on Skinner Butte. Sure enough Momma was in the nest. I assume it was Momma, since I think they take turns on the nest. I had to wait a while till she turned her head since she was facing the wrong way (for me, anyway). The directional light of evening bathed the nest and eagle with golden light. I found the result very pleasing. I was tempted to crop about half of the image to make the eagle larger in the frame, but I wanted to show most of the nest. But I still didn't get it all in this shot. It is big! I did crop another shot to show a closer view of the eagle, and it is very sharp.
There should be babies in a matter of weeks. However, it will be difficult to see them until they get larger.

Culvert
Culvert in Clearwater Park.
I thought the light and scene framed by the culvert made for an interesting composition. Also of interest is the design of culverts. I didn't know there are such interesting and nice appearing designs.

Passing On The Left
The Pre Trail in Alton Baker Park is a wonderful place for a photo walk. As I was enjoying my walk there, a runner passed by me on the left. I quickly grabbed a shot. The lighting was nice.
The photo used here in this City of Eugene website ia also one of mine.

Lunch at Carl's Jr.
This is one of my grandsons, Levi. You might remember him as my companion on photo shoots. He started going with me on shoots at the age of three, when we would visit in Montana . He is now thirteen! Wow, how time flies! As they grow up, we grow old. Anyway, he is comfortable having my camera pointed at him. LOL

You Turkey!
When I went up on Skinner Butte to see the eagle's nest, I also saw this beautiful wild turkey in the parking area. He was walking in my direction to get away from another person who was trying to get a picture with a cell phone. I am always amazed with the variety of colors they have.

High Energy Drink
I came across this scene on a neighborhood walk and was immediately drawn to the juxtaposition between the drink and the warning sign. A high energy drink indeed!
It was one year ago today that I had my heart surgery! Things seem to be going well! Still have energy!
