This Morning's Catch
This morning I went on my first photo shoot at Delta Ponds since my auto accident. Photo shoots are sort of like fishing for photos. But today I saw a real expert at fishing, and shot a few pictures of him catching a fish. Then he ate it on the spot.

Make Yourself Comfortable!
Image shot with a Tamron 10-24mm wide angle, a bit cropped off top and bottom to result in an actual wide angle view. It makes the room look as big as I wish it was. :)

Bird In Flight
Semi-silhouette
I am in awe of the beauty of birds in flight. Their design and build is such that we humans can only copy in a limited way, using what we learn to improve our designs. The many varieties of birds, of such beauty it wins our admiration, and their ability to fly, sometimes thousands of miles on an unerring course of migration, can only fill us with wonder. Some of my most treasured books are on this subject.

A New Friend, Jim!
I got my Nikon D1x back from Nikon Repair, the one that I had dropped on cement . They had to replace the complete viewfinder module, not an inexpensive repair. But now the camera is really like brand new. Since I have so much into it I want to keep it, and I love shooting with it. Back when I learned the repair cost, I was reluctant to spend the money and bought a second mint D1x. Now I no longer need two D1x bodies, so decided to sell the other one on ebay.
The camera sold and I was paid immediately. The buyer is a trucker who was coming through Eugene this evening and asked if he could pick the camera up in person. I met him at the Coburg truck stop. He is the nicest guy and I had a great visit with him. He is just now moving to digital from an F4 that he has used for some time. It will be fun to stay in touch with him and help him get used to the D1x. He has some fine lenses to use with it. Of course, I had to shoot a picture of him. It was dark at the truck stop with only light directly overhead, so lighting was tough.

A Walk In The Forest!
A walk in the forest at Dorris Ranch takes one into nature at its best, a wonderful riparian forest. away from civilization, though one is not much more than a mile from downtown Springfield.
THE FOLLOWING IS FROM 'DORRIS RANCH LIVING HISTORY FARM MASTER PLAN UPDATE:'
"Riparian Forest"
"Dorris Ranch has one of the best examples of bottomland mixed conifer
deciduous forest anywhere in the Willamette Valley. It is located in a rich
ecosystem near the confluence of the Middle and Coast forks of the
Willamette River, and includes relatively rare elements like Valley
Ponderosa pine."

We have had extremely foggy weather day and night for a little while, and they expect it t last another week. We have an air stagnation advisory. Among the warnings is the following: " Impacts: air quality can become unhealthy and affect the
Young... elderly and those with respiratory problems." I find it impossible to avoid it.

The Wall
As I walked in the dark to get my morning latte this morning, I saw this wall of a sports bar. Pretty neat, I thought.

Sunrise over Whilamut Passage Bridge
Looking east from the Knickerbocker footbridge at the sunrise over the new I-5 Whilamut Passage Bridge crossing the Willamette River. The name, Whilamut, is in honor of the area’s first native people, the Kalapuya.
"EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) celebrated the completion of the Interstate-5 Whilamut Passage Bridge on Friday. ODOT said the event marked both the bridge’s completion, as well as, celebrated the savings of up to $12 million dollars, about four months of time and more importantly, the culmination of years of collaborative work." Playing in the Snow?
In the winter, the thoughts of many turn to fun in the snow. Oh, the irony of it all!
Seen in the window of a pizza parlor.
