Black-capped Chickadee
Captured at Delta Ponds.
"the Black-capped Chickadee is widely heralded as one of Oregon's friendliest and cheeriest residents. Even in the midst of winter, this bird "fairly overflows with good spirits"." (Quoted from Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Oregon Wildlife Species)

Flow of the Water
The Willamette River is a bit high and this causes an increased flow of water through Delta Ponds. The flow of the water can be a beautiful thing.

Dexter Lake Scene
This floatation system keeps debris from the dam, which lies to the right out of view. I thought it added a bit of interest to the scene at Dexter Lake.

Rainbow Over Delta Ponds
Periods of rain and sun often bring out the pretty rainbows, like this one I saw at Delta Ponds this morning. It would have been nice if the complete arc could have been shown, but we take what we get! :)

The Bees Think It Is Spring!
We are having spring like weather in Oregon, accompanied by spring rains. The crocuses and other early flowers are seen all around. It appears that the bees think it is spring too! My wish is that this gives those of you still experiencing winter weather some hope.

Sunrise and Smoke Stacks
The sunrise this morning was so colorful, I just had to drive to the closest spot for viewing it. The colors were amazing. The only thing about it is that the International Paper Company mill is part of the view. This is why you have seen the same mill in previous sunrise images. The lights on these smoke stacks did add a bit of interest.

Oh Happy Day!
I felt like singing today as the sun was shining and the sky was blue! On a day like this one can truly appreciate the signs of spring, like this gorgeous flower. I think the flower may have been burned by frost.

Boat Ramp At Dexter Lake
I don't usually get out at sundown. More often I am up and out early and see sunrise. Tonight, I decided to take little Miko for a ride. He loves to ride in a car. Often I am drawn to the Lowell/Fall Creek area because that is where I grew up. I got to Lowell and Dexter Lake in time to see the sun shine through a break in the clouds in the west. The result was pleasing, to my eyes anyway.

I Found Bigfoot!
While taking a walk I was surprised by a sighting of Bigfoot (Sasquatch) and thought I would post it for your enjoyment! :) This one is a marvelous wood carving, likely done by a log artist's power saw.
Many believe in the existence of Bigfoot, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. Here is some info from Wikipedia -"Bigfoot, also known as sasquatch, is the name given to a cryptid ape- or hominid-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. The term sasquatch is an anglicized derivative of the Halkomelem word sásq'ets." See -

White Crocuses
My neighborhood walk took me past yards filled with beautiful early flowers in bloom. I thought these white crocuses was especially pretty. Looks a bit like egg shells to me. :)

Turn Signal
This is the bike path/walk way through Delta Ponds. It was a dark foggy morning. This bicyclist is signaling a turn, and he made a fast turn to the right. The light on the bike added interest, I thought.

Female English House Sparrow?
The birds are coming to our backyard feeder and it is so nice to be able to shoot pictures from our sunroom. The problem I have is with the double paned glass in the doors. I have to try to get them open for an unaffected shot. I looked through my "Birds of Oregon" book to find this particular bird, and the closest I could find is the American Tree Sparrow. At least, I am pretty sure it's a sparrow. :) Possibly a female house sparrow.
Two local bird experts have ID'd the bird as a English House Sparrow, a non-native variety. What throws me is the yellow stripe running back from the eye and the bi-colored bill. The colors of the bird vary from what I see online as English House Sparrows, but I am going to use that for the title.
