Water Over The Dam
This is a small dam on the stream through Alton Baker Park. This day the colors in the water made it especially eye catching. Itfeels peaceful to me!

Osprey On The Wing!
I went to Junction City Pond this morning to see eagles. Alas, none were there! But there were a couple ospreys flying overhead as they hunted for prey. Exposure was critical because of the cloudy sky. This is 50% crop so that I could see some detail with my worsening eyes.
It is getting more and more difficult for me to see the image clearly on my computer screen so I have to depend on my wife to check the image out when I have finished processing. I have an appointment with the eye doctor coming up and I am hopeful that he can help. The radiation treatment I had in 2011 has caused a cataract to grow faster, as I had been warned. This is happening to my one good eye, the other is affected by a scar on the retina, so vision isn't clear. So vision is more and more a problem for me. I can't spot little birds like I used to and am not sure if i Got a sharp shot when out on a photo shoot. So far, the doctor has been reluctant to do cataract removal surgery because of the condition of the eye. Perhaps this year he will feel he can do it. I still have a lot of fun shooting pictures but can't guarantee results will be good. Just wanted to forewarn you. :)

Our Day Lilies are in Bloom!
The day lilies in our backyard are now in bloom. I love them and wish we had more of them, in different colors. Thankfully I could make use of a dark background to make the flower stand out.

Mallard in High Key
This image of a male Mallard in Alton Baker park is something a bit different for me. I found the result pleasing to my eye.

Apples Are Coming On!
I passed by these applea on a tree along the sidewalk on my walk this morning. They looked so good! Now I could just happen to walk that way a little later on......! Tempting!
But no, I couldn't do that! I'm sure the owners are waiting for them to ripen.

He Has a Song to Sing!
This red-wing blackbird Was singing a beautiful song in Delta Ponds today. I am sure it was a love song. It was so pretty.

Like a Propeller
This blossom reminds me of a propeller, but it is certainly more beautiful than any propeller I have seen.

Along the Canal
The herons know when the Alton Baker Canal is stocked with fish. They are waiting, along with the fishermen. The canal is stocked on Thursday and so fishing is good all weekend. This heron has got its spot all staked out. It is on the ready in case unsuspecting fish swim by. I think it has a great spot there in the tall grass.

Michael Fishing the Canal
While walking along Pre Trail I came across this gentleman fishing the canal in style. He is a very nice guy! We chatted for a bit and then both went our ways. That is one fine canoe! I am sending him a picture.

Stocking The Canal.
I was at Alton Baker Park when the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stocked the Alton Baker Park canal with fish. I had never seen it done before, so decided to wait and try to get a photo.
"Alton Baker Canoe Canal will be stocked this week at multiple locations along the length of the Canal with a total of 965 fish, including 150 larger fish. The Canal will be stocked at weekly intervals through the summer. Summer steelhead are occasionally caught in this system and anglers are reminded they will need a combined angling tag and a Columbia River Basin Endorsement to legally target or harvest a steelhead. It is legal to fish with two rods in the Alton Baker Canoe Canal, provided the Two-Rod Validation has been purchased. The canal is located within Alton Baker Park and can be accessed off of Club Road in Eugene. A 4-acre pond at the midpoint of the canal is a good spot but it can be fished all along its 2-mile length from Day Island Road in Eugene to Aspen Street in Springfield." -

Pleasingly Purple
I don't remember photographing a flower like this before. Whatever it is, it's such a lovely design! And the colors are delightful. The dark veins in the petals add to the beauty in this extreme close up. Once again, feedback regarding identity of the flower would be appreciated.

The Silent Treatment
Talk about indifferent sales people! This one has been out there a week and never spoke. When I walked by she stood there expressionless. I was going to say hello but why bother?
Ok, she is a (woman) manniquin - "Mannequin, a life-sized human doll used especially in sales." (Wikipedia) I thought they had her made up pretty realistically.
