Yellow Hairdo
I was fascinated by this bug I saw on a neighborhood fence. Don't know what it is, but thought it has a nice yellow hairdo. :) Too bad I didn't have a macro lens with me. Some Kind of Bug! The consensus seems to be bumble bee.

Territorial Rights
It seems that humans aren't the only ones who fight over territory. The egret on the left began chasing the other, which had been quietly browsing the shoreline and evidently got into what it considered its territory. Here it leaps at the other egret which jumps out of the water to get away. I am glad I was there to capture the egret aggression. But I wasn't the only one. The geese seem uninterested though.

Look at Those Yellow Legs!
I roamed Delta Ponds while waiting for my car to be serviced and was rewarded by seeing several birds. One of my favorite photos is this one, because of the dramatic lighting. I am a sucker for This kind of light. I am in awe of the design in nature! Many birds' legs bend at the knee in the opposite direction of ours! That is clearly shown in this photo of a Greater Yellowlegs.

An Evening Walk
This gentleman was out for a walk in the early evening at Alton Baker Park and is about to go under Ferry Street Bridge. I love the warm artificial lighting that says it's evening.

Climbing the Columns
This popular basalt wall of rock is located on the edge of downtown Eugene. It may be small but it has a great concentration of cracks and is a popular spot for rock climbing practice. Yesterday I shot a Belladonna Lily. Today was Belladonna of a different kind. Belladonna means beautiful woman in Italian. I watched two beautiful young ladies do the climb. Even took some photof for them when one of them asked me to take some pictures with her iPhone.

The Lesser Goldfinch is certainly not lesser in beauty!
I am seeing more Lesser Goldfinches at Delta Ponds. This one is perched in a tree, a great setting, IMHO. They are sure pretty little birds. With my poor eyes, I feel fortunate to capture them.

Out of the Darkness
I loved the way the details of this plants were highlighted by the sunlight I am not sure of the ID of the plant. It makes me think of a dried out Queen Anne's Lace. Whatever it is, the fine detail is eye-catching, IMHO!

Grouch of the Day!
This Green Heron at Delta Ponds got upset because a duck was sharing the same log. The grouch chased the duck away.
Moral of the story - Don't be a grouch!

Balancing Act
I caught this crow as it landed on the bank of the Alton Baker Park canal. It looks like it is balancing itself on the edge. The exposure was tough as I was facing the sun and the crow was jet black. this is the best I could do in those circumstances, but i like the effect. :)

Splash!
This Great Egret was fishing in one of the Delta Ponds. With lightning speed, it struck the water! It did catch something, coming up with a very small fish. I also got a picture of the egret with the little fish in its beak. But I liked this one that shows how fast a this predator can strike. Besides that, I thought the scene was pretty.
