Wired!

Have you ever really thought about all the wires that run along our roads, like these along Jasper/Lowell Road? Millions of miles of wire must circle the earth like the winding of an armature! Add to this all of the power lines that dot the landscape. Wouldn't it be nice if electricity and communication waves could be broadcast without the need of wires? Someday!

Super composition. I heartily agree--or at least the wires could all be buried.
John Shen 19-Mar-2014 03:39
Nice image with the wires highlighted.

Like a spider web. Here most wires are underground but this week they digged to change some..

Great capture Vern!

It looks so ugly, so ugly that it almost looks nice...
We hate them in the photographs, but we all need them - as Yvonne said, why not put them underground??

They certainly get in the way of a nice scenic image at times...
I've cussed them out many times over the years, to many to clone out of an image....

You made this into a quite likable, well lit photograph...V

The light and those lines look amazing ~V~

Here's a lot of wires, the result of fast development and an affluent middle class. They can't bury them fast enough. I will not clone out wires, they are part of reality. I like your image, Vern!

Well seen and well captured with nice light on the wires Vern. A world without wires would sure be different, even though they are an eyesore, it is hard to imagine civilization without them. Also, where would the birds perch when congregating for their migrations? LOL
Roger Bailey16-Mar-2014 11:35
Nicely seen, a lucky shaft of light.
Yvonne16-Mar-2014 10:05
I love it when they're put underground... but as you say, one day! v

great capture of the light on these wires..v

Considering the number of times I've cloned them out of shots yes, I have often thought about cables but not in terms fit for the ears of your maiden auntie. Making a feature of them is something else. Why not, if they won't go away?
Ray Dondzila 16-Mar-2014 08:46
Good eye and a nice catch, Vern.
Guest 16-Mar-2014 08:21
A nice catch of the reflected light.
It would be visually so much better if most of the local distribution systems could be placed underground.
Helen Betts16-Mar-2014 07:24
Great light on those wires, which I normally wouldn't want in an image, but here they really add to it!

The light is just right, those wires keep everything ticking over, despite being eyesore at times.
