Dexter Lake on the Willamette River was formed by the addition of Dexter Dam. This dam and lake are just below Lookout Point Dam, a much bigger dam and lake. The dams were built in the 1950's, primarily for flood control. Dexter Lake is the scene of plenty of recreational activity, including boating, fishing, picnicing in the parks along the lake and even speedboat races. The University of Oregon Rowing Team has a dock and building here and they use Dexter Lake for their practice and training sessions.
The small town of Lowell sits along the lake. This is where I went to school, first at Lowell Elementary and then the first year at Lowell High School.
