Kingfisher At Rest

Kingfishers rarely stay still long enough for me to capture them with a camera.
Though this shot isn't the greatest, it gave me a sense of achievement and a good look at an elusive subject (for me!).

Beautiful capture, Vern. I have never been able to get a decent shot of this extremely elusive bird.

Congratulations! He's on my list of "Hopefully someday. . ." to get a shot of - no success for me yet. So happy to see you got him! A real nice male you caught here.

I can see why you are happy getting this shot Vern, I have seen Kingfishers but have never managed to get one on the chip!! I did get a hint on where to find one today!!

A real good catch. I've never gotten very close to one, although we see the fairly often.

Looks as if he was measuring the size of your lens and scared him stiff and was happy to be your model.
Chris Cochems 04-Jan-2011 22:29
Good job, Vern. Kingfishers and Common Yellowthroats are a royal bitch to shoot.
