The Tree - Dawn Redwood

This is a Dawn Redwood, first discovered in 1941. Before that they had found only fossils in Japan, and they considered the tree extinct. Then they were found growing wild in China - http://pegasus.rutgers.edu/~nolimits/plants/taxonphotogallery.html Scroll down to DECIDUOUS "Evergreens" for more information and a link to a picture. It is a very unusual tree. I have images of it at different times of year.
