Boredom

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

This man was seated on this bench with a cigarette in his band looking bored. Probably resting and didn't have anything special to do but to smoke. Check out the following thumbnail and you will know what I mean. He practically smoked himself to `death'.

Both shots make great statements about a lonely soul. Good to read the comments by Phil, I've so much to learn.

I know about the cigarette thing being `cropped'. But this is the best picture that i could find. I suppose I could omit the cigarette out of my narration but I just wanted to tell a little story. :D

The expression is wonderful, Tricia, as are the colors. His world seems much more alive than he does. And that is the point of the picture as far as I see it. However, the image is incompete if it is supposed to be about a smoker.
You do not emphasize the smoking aspect here as effectively as you do in the image you link us to below this photo. You crop the cigarette right out of the picture. If the cigarette was important to your idea, you would have needed to carefully scan all four edges of your viewfinder before pushing the shutter button. Practice doing that, Tricia -- always be conscious of what is in and what is out of your frame at the edges. It is always better to err on the loose side. You can always crop a loosely composed image later, but you can't restore stuff that is cropped out of the frame itself. Hope this is helpful. Phil
