Railing Installed

Siem Reap, Cambodia

The climb up narrow steps to the base of the central tower is frightening to all but those with inordinately fine balance or remarkably small feet. There are four stairways up; at just one, the south stairway, has a railing has been installed to assist descent by the nervous. Many opt for this route. As for me, I never attempted a step up as I knew I would never get to the top. The most I did was to climb up 5 steps to take a picture of the steep steps. Willing to take up the challenge?

Very steep indeed, I believe it was designed that way so that people climbing had to do so with their heads bowed in respect ..much like some of the doorways which are very low. I found it hard coming down ... had to do it backwards .. again... I think it was all part of the master plan . Thanx for sharing. KMc

I can only imagine how dangerous it is, and I would not do it again as I did it on El Castlliohttp://www.pbase.com/eldarrio/image/34864141 ... This Mayan pyramid was the worst collector of the terrible toll until they prohibited climbing on it.
