This gallery records a climb up the West Spanish Peak trail to the top. The West Peak, at over 13,000 feet, lords over the surrounding mountains and the eastern plains. The trek took seven hours, most of that being the climb up the peak itself. It is not technically difficult. For older people my age it is arduous, but spry young folk (and their pets) race up that mountain all the time.
This climb was taken in late September, 2004. Winter closed in as I retreated down the trail.
