Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde was set aside as a National Park in 1906 to preserve the ancient cliff-dwellings in Colorado's southwest corner. When UNESCO first named twelve sites to its World Heritage list, Mesa Verde stood prominently among them. (That list has since grown to 812 sites and is being augmented daily.
