First and foremost, I have dedicated this picture to both Stella and James Hall of Harpenden, two people for whom I have extremely high regard, the last of whom (Stella), past away a few weeks ago to join her husband. Throughout their long, happy, compassionate lives they have always had a special place in their heart for Ashridge, the home of much natural beauty.
I've been to Ashridge several times in the last few weeks in attempt to capture the automumnal colours, and I've either been unlucky with weather, location or both. Today, I had particular concerns because the colours were fading fast, but it seems I got lucky :)
If you're wondering about the odd title, the shadows remind of sleepers on a railway track.
I hope you will enjoy this - regards everyone.
