Mid-elevation old growth, Trapper Creek Wilderness, Washington, U.S.A. 2004 06 (Jun) 13
I was literally in a cloud when I took these pictures at an elevation of 3,500 to 4,000 feet in the Trapper Creek Wilderness, and so they look foggy. It rained most of the time. All in all, it was a miserable day for taking pictures with an unweatherized DSLR (Nikon D70), but the very even lighting gives room in Photoshop to easily capture the original impression. A few years ago, this area was designated an "experimental forest." It was so protected you weren't even allowed to go off the trail to take care of Mother Nature. The trail goes through a small section of first class Silver Fir old growth. All but one of these pictures were taken with the Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX.
