Although Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) is the capital West Bengal, I've decided to give it its own gallery, as the West Bengali gallery is getting a bit full. Kolkata was surprising; I had expected it be be full of beggers and abject poverty at every turn. Sure, there were measures of each of these here (as in all Indian cities), but not on the scale I had expected.
Relatively few mainstream tourists seem to visit Kolkata, so you can really feel as if you are in the "Real India" here!
