The Gardens at Winterthur Museum and Gardens

Founded by Henry Francis du Pont, Winterthur (pronounced “winter-tour”) is the premier museum of American decorative arts, reflecting both early America and the du Pont family’s life here. Located near Greenville, DE, its 1,000 acres encompass rolling hills, streams, meadows, and forests and includes a 60-acre naturalistic garden. Famous for its many varieties of azalea and rhododendron, is among the country’s best.
