I was dx with bilateral breast cancer in late summer. Had a double mastectomy with
immediate first stage reconstruction on Oct 17,06. Will add to gallery as I go along with
my reconstruction. (My second stage reconstruction was in April 07)
My plastic surgeon up to this point was Dr. Kenneth White http://www.wilmingtonplasticsurgery.com/

I relocated to Hawai'i shortly after my second stage reconstruction. I eventually had to have some minor corrective surgery on my left breast and found Dr Randoff Wong of Honolulu. http://randywongmd.com/. At that point I decided to move on with my 'reconstruction' and have nipple construction and color tatooing.

Ihave expanders in. I'm glad to be finished with the fear - but I would like to feel good about my new boobs. Final surgery is last week in May. Thanks for sharing.

Katherine, I'm so glad it dawned on me to come to your galleries. You are looking great and I care more about how you are feeling inside. I guess that is a photo you just can't take. I am glad that you are moving forward. I love your bravery. You are a shining star for women.

Hello Katherine! I am the friend of Georgia's who is about to go through surgery for breast cancer. Your gallery is a first glimpse to me of what it will really be like. And what a beautifully sensitive gallery it is too, done with real style and class! I am so grateful to have come in contact with you (in a roundabout way though) and will email you shortly with "my" story. It's the scariest thing I have ever experienced and it's only a week old! I know it's a battle and the journey for me is just beginning. I wish you my best in your continued healing process. I know I'm not alone in this now. Carol

Hope you do well in the future. this is great for cancer patients and so tastefully done. I had breast cancer, but will not have reconstruction. I have another kind of cancer now. Each day is beautiful. that's what this whole ordeal is about!!!! Good luck and thanks Sharon

Katherine, I too am a breast cancer survivor. I had lobular carcinoma and had both breasts removed 2 years ago. I had reconstruction as well. I know how difficult this is to go through. Did you have to have chemotherapy? I am praying for your continued recovery and love what you have done in this gallery. It means a lot to me as I remember so well, what I went through. Please keep this gallery updated. It can really help people to understand what it is...a horrible disease, but we can make it through. I am so moved by your depictions and this brought a lot of memories back. If you ever want to talk, just email me. I have a cancer gallery and race for the cure gallery out here on Pbase as well. However, I didn't start picking up the camera on a regular basis until about a year after all my treatment and everything was done. I wish you well and the best of health to come your way.
