Message from Fred Henstridge
Welcome to my Pbase site. In my collection of galleries you will see some of the images I have taken over the past 25 years. Many of the images displayed in the various galleries are derived from scanned 35mm slides that I have taken over this period. Upon retirement from the rigors of a professional career as a surveyor and civil engineer I now have the time to devote to my first love – photography. Last year (2005) I went through archival files containing over 30,000 35mm slides and culled them down to about 5,000 “keepers”. These slides were scanned at 2000 dpi with a Nikon film scanner and converted to digital images. Some of the scanning was outsourced, some done by me. You will be able to tell the scanned slides by the caption information below the image.
In the past four years I have converted to total digital Imaging. I use Nikon equipment and have been doing so for over 20 years. I do not know if it’s the best, but it’s the gear I am very comfortable with.
During my engineering career I had the opportunity to travel to many locations on this globe. I wish I had taken the time and put forth the effort to take more photos. Now I am trying to catch up with digital.
