Your "industrial view" of Portland (I left a couple of comments there) make me think that you like shooting the off-beat side of a city. If you get to New York again, I recommend crossing the Hudson River into New Jersey to walk around northern Hoboken and Weehawken. It's a fascinating area of neighborhoods, commercial and industrial areas, and railroads. From King's Bluff in Weehawken one has a great view of Manhattan and the traffic coming out of and entering the Lincoln Tunnel. Cheers.
