If you are on a low carb or low fat diet, Turkey shouldn't be on your list of destinations. According to my guide Atik, Turkish cuisine is the third best cuisine in the world right after Chinese and Italian. While cucumber, tomato and bread are staples for every meal, other foods are usually served in dripping oil, and sweets are soaked in honey and powdered with more sugar. I liked all the soups, but my favorites are unflavored yoghurt with dark honey and dried fruits as well as Turkish ice cream.
