Cruce de Lagos, or Lakes Crossing, is a land-lake-land border crossing from Bariloche, Argentina to Puerto Varas, Chile or vise versa. It involves 3 cruises and 4 bus rides along the most scenic route surrounded by many snow-capped peaks. It was a logistic nightmare as tourists on different routes all boarded the same cruise(s) - partial or full leg of the crossing - and luggage was manually sorted with each transit from boat to bus or bus to boat. We had 4 different guides, each responsible for only certain segment of the trip, making it extremely confusing who was responsible for us. Of course, the border crossing involved custom and luggage inspection. Our ride was dampened by shower and heavy fog on Lago Todos las Santos where the visibility was no more than 20 or 30 ft. In the end all our luggage made it through.
