Fashion - the most folly ridden of the minor arts. Can't remember who said that, but its certainly correct when you look at the ugly clothes we wore in that period.
Being of the same era I can relate.Thought I looked pretty cool in my leisure suit with bell bottom pants....then on casual Fridays it would be the denim jeans with the patterned wedge making them into bell bottom jeans.We were just wayyyyyy cool....lol.
Following the fashion of the day is one of those aspects of a less-developed sense of self---or something like that. The wide legs of bell-bottom jeans and slacks were cool then, but now the thought of wearing them makes me want to puke. The thought of wearing a suit and tie also makes me want to puke.
