Module 3

Module 3 – Lens use and camera angles.

This module is designed to help the student investigate and experiment with the various focal lenses available. It is generally accepted that there are traditional uses for each particular focal range, for example, using a wide angle lens for landscapes, or a telephoto lens for portraits. However, the student is expected to demonstrate the creative effects possible when using a lens not normally associated with a particular subject matter. Also, it is often the norm that images have been taken from the standing position or eye level. Again, the student is expected to demonstrate the creative effects possible when using very low or unusually high, shooting positions.

Lens use: a set of three pairs of images were taken using a conventional focal length lens, and a comparison image using an unconventional focal length lens.

Camera angles: a set of images were taken from very low or unusually high shooting positions, along with at least one comparison shot from the standing position.
