Thank you and Pooch for the wonderful memories. We were once owned by a Westie - by the name of Jock - he lived 15 years - and we will never forget him. Pooch is a lucky boy - what a heavenly place to be a Westie. I wish you all long, happy and healthy lives together. Carol

Pooch is a lovely family member more than a dog. The diary is an very attractive story between pooch and dad more than just pictures. I hope to read this beautiful story again.

thanks to you all for taking the trouble to comment - it's good that folks
are realistic about whether or not their circumstances mean they can
offer a dog a suitable home. We hope that sooner or later your circumstances will
enable you to enjoy life with your own canine companion, but in the meantime perhaps
the adventures of Pooch will help assuage the "dog yearning". ;)

I have also just stumbled across this gallery, and I think it is fantastic. I find Pooch's life interesting. Pooch (and you) are now amongst my favourites.

I also was very interested in your introduction. I would love to have a dog, but I live in inner London and having a dog ... with no place for him/her to run and lead a 'dog's life' is cruel. I am sorry that sometimes society does not take the responsibility of caring for an animal seriously.

Thanks for brining Pooch into my dogless life.

I have just stumbled across pooch's gallery. what a great life he leads. I am always envious of people who are able to have pets. Unfortunately with my travelling and moving about I cannot devote the appropriate time and love. It would be so unfair on a pet. So until I have the chance I will enjoy some of pooch's adventures. Great gallery.

thanks for taking the time to comment on our PAD. I guess you have a point, Frank - it
will undoubtedly be very hard when our beloved canine friend departs on his final walky and leaves us behind.

I don't really have an answer to that, except to say that if we give our dog a good life, the best life we can manage, then we will have many happy memories to enjoy and treasure... and joyful memories of his company will last much longer, I hope, than the inevitable sorrow of his loss.

Our Pooch is only three years old and most westies live to reach the age of fifteen or older, so there should be many, many more very good years still to come. :)

I love dogs. And it's such an enjoyment to go through Pooch's diary! I have been reluctant to keep a dog mainly because of the reason you mentioned above - dogs have a very short span of life, and I would be very sad when my dog comes to the end of his/her journey of life. I just don't know how to face it.

Thanks again for all your comments - much appreciated. And yes - our little westie does tend to draw lots of admirers to him when he goes out for a walk! He kind of expects some attention from passers-by all the time now, so he wags his tail and pricks his ears and more or less grins at them whenever he sees anybody coming towards him. It works 90% of the time!

LOL! Thanks for the comments - he knows what the camera is and sometimes he "poses" (or at least stands still, looking at the camera ;) ) but depending on his mood sometimes he runs in the opposite direction! Still, that's westies for you. They may be small, but they have huge characters and if they want to ignore you... they will. We've become adept at what we call "dog psychology" - the art of getting the pooch to do what we want, when we want it, even if it's not what he wants!
