Message from Ian Tapscott
Hi all, there follows a short intro about me;
Married for 25 yrs, father to two girls, our home is in the middle of Somerset, some 12 miles from where I was born. Between then and now I've travelled extensively with the Royal Navy and had two other homes, in Plymouth and Hong Kong. Always had an interest in recording where I'd been so I could share my travels, I now have many 100's[probably 1000's] of prints to digitise and share the best with you. [Retirement project!]
Ex Biker. Ex rugby, water polo and hockey player, I still prefer to play sport rather than watch it. Badminton is my current choice but I still love the water & get in it when I can. And let me tell you, there's nothing like jumping ship for a swim in mid ocean - no land in sight! Along with the usual track & field stuff I've also tried; scuba diving; skiing; gliding; parascending and parachuting - I’d still like to try a bungy jump and hang gliding. I'm big on DIY - and I think I'm fairly good at it. Surprisingly I love to travel!
Ex RN engineer now in the Civil Service helping support the Army & Navy Lynx helicopters. Despite hours in front of a pc I’m still a country boy at heart.
I'm using a Minolta Dimage 5, which was much researched so I thought it would be all I’d ever need but now I'd dearly like to be able to afford a true DSLR. The D5 is great but has a couple of relatively minor but annoying limitation in areas where I’d like to expand - as an example a maximum 4 second exposure. However being practical I can’t see my desire for a DSLR coming about for a long time but I may try an upgrade to a Dimage 7Hi which will address some of my issues with the 5.
Well that’s me. If you’d like you can visit the guestbook and leave a short intro about yourself - you know, the ‘Who, What, Where and Why’ stuff. Oh and don’t forget to comment on those images that need it or deserve it! Your opinion of what I'm doing right or wrong could be useful.

Thanks for the visit, regards, Ian.
