This one comes with a story.
When my son, Aidan, was about 6, he had a bad dream
about a vampire and woke in the middle of the night
very scared. I went in to his room and talked for awhile
and eventually suggested he draw a picture of the vampire.
At first the plan was to draw it and tear it up so as to
feel he had "power" over the vampire. But the idea evolved.
We started talking about how silly the vampire would look if
he wore a lime green cape with purple polka dots, etc. Using
a pencil and his imagination he drew his vision of the vampire.
He gave it horns since it was an evil vampire, but as the vampire
became sillier in our discussion, he gave it a smiling face. The last
thing he did was to draw the halo over his head, saying, "because he's
part good and part bad. Like all of us." He's never had another bad
dream about vampires.
