On May 18, 2002, the Port of Oakland in conjunction with the city of Oakland had it's Portfest event centered around Jack London Square (JLS). For boat fanatics, Portfest had boat rides and exhibits, for airplane enthusiasts Portffest had an airshow, but for railfans Portfest only had the regular passenger and UP freight trains that street run down Embacadero everyday. Unlike prevous Portfests with trains coming as part of the event, no trains have been part of Portfest since the early 1990's. But in 2002 Portfest again welcomed trains with the NorCal FreeMo Modular HO Scale group setting up at 54 Washington in an empty store space.
