On the weekend of May 17-18th, 2003, Trainorders.com led by founder/webmaster Todd Clark successfully chartered 2 private cars for a Coast Starlight roundtrip from L.A. to Oakland and back. The PV cars tacked onto Amtrak trains 14/11 were the bar car Pony Express (PPCX800320) converted from a Royal Canadian horse car and the luxurious heavyweight observation car "Los Angeles" (SP131) restored from the former SP "Balboa" car in 1984. The WP "Silver Lariat" in Operation Lifesaver costume also joined us deadheading to Oregon ahead of our 2 cars. Big thanks to Todd, his wife Donnalee, their son Mason, their friends Dave and Shelly and Stan aka PCX320 for acting as PV conductor! Big shout outs to all the familiar foamer faces and new ones I met on the Saturday northbound trip from L.A. to Oakland.
