The Dinghuis served as a court of justice (ding is an old germanic word meaning place were justice is spoken). The oldest parts are from 1470, the front in gothic style was added early in the 16th century.
It lost its original function when the 'new' town hall on the market square was built in 1664.
Today it is the seat of the VVV (tourist office).
