Starting the Dive

Southern Vancouver Island

There's hasn't been much activity in the bird world lately, however the lure of fresh seafood always keeps the gulls on the beaches. A fresh crab was the gull's goal and it came up with a small one, just right for a late afternoon snack. Herring Gull facts: On an average, herring gulls live for about 30 years. However, they have been known to survive for as long as 49 years. Death of adult herring gulls is mostly because of food shortage and predators. The primary predators of herring gulls are seals, owls and falcons. ~ Buzzle.com
